Project BKF/012 - Natural Resource Management in the Bobo Dioulasso Basin

The project BKF/012 constitutes the continuation of BKF/007- participatory development of the Dinderesso and Kou forest reserves (2002- 2006).

The areas of intervention include:
- Geographical extension to two other forest reserves, notably Kuinima and Kua and their side villages;
- Treatment of the forest-village interface by integrating it into the urban construction development scheme in Bobo-Dioulasso;
- Development of the educational and recreational functions of the city-surrounding forests;
- City's water secure and fight against forest pollution;
- Sustainability of urban development of the city of Bobo-Dioulasso.

This project also aims to decentralise its management responsibility to empower the local population and to reinforce the capacities of the institutional agents.

All the policies ascribe to the goal of poverty reduction through the principle of 'sustainable management of natural resources that reconciles the demands of economic growth and the imperative of maintaining the balance of the ecosystems for present and future generations'.
